My best friend Lou Lou was lamenting her financial woes to me last night through a group text message she and I share with my other bff Max.
"You guys, I literally am going to have no money soon. I get paid Friday and entire check goes to rent. I bought 5 of those 99 cent ramens from trader joes and I'm gonna take that to work for lunch. Gotta buckle down."
We spent the next ten minutes going back and forth about how shitty it is being poor, how unfair it is that we can't spend our hard-earned meager wages on whatever our little girl hearts desire, and how even if we're living off ramen and dollar tacos, we'll still splurge on cocktails, because that's a legitimate splurge, right?
Lou Lou suddenly broke the stream, adding that she wasn't stressed out by her current situation.
"I'm not stressed. I'm proud of myself because usually I would be like having insane anxiety attacks and shit and now I'm just like, whatever."
Oh apathy, the great savior of our disillusioned youth.
And a tune to leave that sweet taste in your mouth:
