Last night, I had my first solo DJ experience, which means I was standing behind the turntables ALL BY MYSELF for four hours. Straight. Without breaks. Except for running back and forth to the bathroom to take a quick piss, and sneaking cigarette drags from strangers outside. When spinning vinyl, all vinyl, it's nearly impossible to leave the records spinning to their own devices. What happens if a song skips and you're not there? Or the sound is too low? Or the song ends sooner than you thought it would? So last night was a fun experience for me, and definitely made me feel like a real DJ.
